Prioritizing Recycling, ZWD Applauds State’s Plan to Increase Recycling Rate

The Zero Waste Detroit Coalition (ZWD) applauds Governor Snyder’s plans to boost Michigan’s recycling rate.  The Governor announced on April 14, 2014 plans to increase recycling access statewide.  Michigan lags behind most state’s with a dismal recycling rate of 15%.  The plan outlines a strategy to double Michigan’s recycling rate in the next two years.

The Governor’s plan for Michigan works directly toward ZWD’s mission to “move the City of Detroit to a solid waste management system that gives top priority to recycling and materials recovery”.  We look forward to supporting recycling outreach, education, and business development efforts as the state embarks on the plan.
